This song is by Mark Schultz, who was adopted by a loving family after he was born. In this song he's singing to his birth mother, and thanking her for allowing him to have life. I often think about and pray for the birth mother of the child we are going to adopt. What a hard decision she is going to have to make. Truly the best decision she will make is to allow her child to experience life. What an incredible gift she is going to give to him or her. I pray that she will know that we will love and care for this child with all that is within us. Now that I think about it, throughout our journey I have not considered Soowan's birth mother, and the sacrifices she made to allow him to experience life. Possibly because it is something he doesn't talk about very often. In Soowan's records there is no mention of his birth mother, only the foster family who cared for him for over 3 years. But listening to this song really makes it hit home right now. Soowan is away this weekend camping with Micah, and I can't wait to have him hear this song. She made the best decision, to give him life. If she could only see what an incredible husband, father and most importantly, the man of God he has grown up to be. I could not thank her enough for making the sacrifices that she did.
