STILL WAITING......

We are now at our six month wait for our referral. When we first started this adoption process we were told that our wait for a referral should take 6-8 months. Well now it will be an even longer wait. Each month we receive updates from our agency notifying us of the current time frames, and what they know about the new policy changes. We have not yet received our update for November, but the October update mentioned that the wait for referrals has been extended quite a bit. So by the time frame they are now quoting, we may have to wait until January or February or 2007 for our referral. :(

Worst-case scenario would be if we do not get our referral by Febrary then we will have to wait until the Summer '07. This is due to the new policy changes that have taken place in Korea. We are trying to be as patient as we can be. We, (mostly I) have good days, and then some bad days. I know that we could endure to wait an additional 6 months if we had to, it is just that we would really prefer not to. (Along with all of the families who are waiting in limbo like we are).

Today has just been looming over me, knowing that it could of been the beginning of our 'open window' to get our referral. It could still happen, but to protect my heart I'm not going to be expecting it until after the the New Year. And if not by then, I guess we'll have some more waiting to do!

Hello,

I'm an adoptive mom of two Korean teens. I found you from your comment on Ryan's blog. I'm at a very different place in our family's adoption journey, but I hope you stop by.

The waiting is so very hard, I remember it well although our children are now 15 and 17. I hope you find peace as you live through it, as it can be a very trying time.
